Rapper Whiz Khalifa created a social media firestorm by hanging out with controversial boxing champion Ryan Garcia.
Garcia was fresh off his own scandal, in which he went on Twitter, the social media platform currently marketed as X, to repeatedly declare himself as an ‘anti-Black” racist. He also made a disparaging mark about George Floyd, a Black man killed by Minneapolis police in a way that sparked worldwide social justice protests in 2020.
“I hate [expeletive]. I’m anti-Black,” Garcia, who is of Mexican heritage, said during an X Spaces broadcast. “I’m KKK, [expeletive]. I hate [expeletive] […] Let’s go bring George Floyd back to life and kill that [expeletive].”
The racist remarks continued on his own profile, where he wrote “I love [expeletive]” and “Lil Wayne said I can say the N Word.”
Garcia is of Mexican descent.
Social media users blasted Khalifa for the hangout, according to HipHopDX.
“Wiz has no code,” one fan said on Twitter.
Another remarked, “@wizkhalifa must not know what he said because how tf do you shake hands with someone that said what he said about black folks..?”
A third person didn’t need as many words: “Wiz Khalifa is officially a lame for this.”
Khalifa didn’t immediately respond to the controversy.
