NFL great Tom Brady recently voiced support for New England Patriots rookie Drake Maye. Drafted out of North Carolina, Maye will succeed Mac Jones, who the team drafted in the hopes of succeeding the seven-time Super Bowl Champion after he left the team following the 2019 season.

Maye will get a fresh slate to work with after a difficult few seasons in Foxboro. A new head coach resides too in Jerod Mayo. So there’s a lot of promise and opportunity around.

Brady voiced clear support for Maye recently as he commented on the rookie quarterback’s chances this season.

“I like him a lot,” Brady told Yahoo Sports in a recent interview. “I’ve heard great things about him. But his opportunity is going to be really what he makes of it, and how he wants to develop it, and how he wants to attack his profession, like we all do. It’s not where you’re at when you’re 22, it’s who you’re around when you’re 22. Who inspires you to be better? Who develops you?”

Patriots fans were happy to hear the kind words Brady offered for their next quarterback. Maye will have pressure on him to succeed as much as anyone. But of course, the Patriots prospered like no other with Brady and Bill Belichick at the helm in the 2000s and 2010s. So that may always be in the back of some minds.
