The Los Angeles Rams have proven before that, for the right place, they’re willing to make deals. Ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft, Los Angeles appeared poised to try and strike again.
Roku’s NFL Draft show highlighted several teams in the league leading up to the festivities this year in Detroit. The Rams were among them. While LA wound up taking Florida State’s Jared Verse, the Rams originally had other ideas.
Pro Football Talk detailed the team’s attempts to pull off first-round draft-day deals. According to the documentary, LA attempted to trade up with Minnesota and Las Vegas, specifically targeting two players.
“It became clear from the context that the Rams wanted Bowers. After the Raiders took Bowers, the Rams became focused on a potential Aaron Donald replacement, in the form of Texas defensive tackle Byron Murphy,” Mike Florio of PFT wrote.
LA might not have been able to get what they want, but their desire to get better by any means is evident. That tidbit should at least excite Rams fans somewhat. The team is willing to do whatever they see fit to try and improve, whether trade or signing, and it doesn’t matter if they have to give up any draft capital. That type of aggressiveness paid off before for LA, particularly when they won the Super Bowl, and they’re obviously hoping it does yet again.
