The Cleveland Cavaliers and former lottery pick Evan Mobley agreed on an extension to keep the star big man in Northeast Ohio.

Mobley cashed in on his max rookie extension deal and will earn $224 million.

According to ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the contract could be worth up to $269 million.

Mobley has played in 196 career games since joining the Cavs in the 2021-22 season. Cleveland drafted the 6-foot-11, 215-pound Mobley out of Southern California with the third overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Since then, in the last three seasons, he’s emerged as one of the fastest-rising stars in the league.

Mobley averaged 15.6 points and 8.8 rebounds per game in his career. Last season, he averaged 15.7 points and 9.4 rebounds per game in 50 games. He scored 33 points in the team’s Game 5 loss to eventual champion Boston, a series the Celtics won in five games.

Recently, several others have cashed in on their rookie max extensions. Namely, 2021 top pick Cade Cunningham, who agreed to terms on an extension with the Detroit Pistons. It’s no surprise to see Cleveland invest in the future with Mobley, who’s been very sharp since joining the Cavaliers.
