Some chicanery occurred on Wednesday in the NFL. Tennessee Titans defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons appeared unafraid about the team’s Week 1 opponent: Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears.

So much so that Simmons decided to talk trash. Pro Football Focus noted what Simmons said, and let’s say it didn’t go over well with Chicago fans.

“Painted nails. I can’t wait to say that to him,” Simmons said of Williams.

Earlier this year, the new Bears quarterback received some… “criticism” after after appearing out in public with painted nails. However, the former Heisman Trophy winner explained his reasoning after that backlash occurred.

Frankly, the guy can do what he wants. Mocking him for it feels small and petty. But this is professional sports, and there’s few things in sports that get people going more than pettiness.

Bears fans and otherwise had much to say about Simmons’ comments… and many of them didn’t land in Simmons’ favor.
