Things did not work out between quarterback Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos as head coach Sean Payton and the team decided to move on from Wilson this offseason, ultimately cutting him in the middle of his contract and allowing him to become a free agent before he ultimately signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers. It was a brutal situation for Wilson all around, but he seems to be taking it all in stride.
Last month, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin described Russell Wilson as “somewhat scalded” by what happened in Denver, indicating that he wasn’t necessarily happy and felt like he had something to prove. But that’s not necessarily the way that Wilson sees it.
“I wouldn’t say I’m scalded,” Wilson said according to Brooke Pryor of ESPN. “I would say that if anything, I’ve just learned a lot and I think that internally you get better, you get tougher. You use your experiences, use the challenges that you’ve gone through to be the best version of you. And so I don’t blink and I’m looking forward to the challenge and the opportunity.”
Wilson now has a chance to prove himself once again as he’ll have a chance to be the starting quarterback of the Steelers.
