Tom Brady was a good sport throughout the Netflix comedy special, The Roast of Tom Brady, where he was naturally roasted mercilessly throughout the event. But a specific set of jokes that targeted Brady’s ex-wife Gisele Bundchen has struck a nerve for Brady, particularly because of how the jokes affected his kids.
Brady recently appeared on The Pivot Podcast, where he admitted that the jokes have affected his kids, which is why he would never participate in another roast again.
“I liked when the jokes were about me. I thought they were so fun. I didn’t like the way they affected my kids,” Brady admitted on the podcast via Variety. “It’s the hardest part about…like the bittersweet aspect of when you do something that you think is one way and then all of a sudden you realize I wouldn’t do that again because of the way that it affected actually the people that I care about the most in the world.”
It’s fairly understandable for Brady, and especially his kids, to feel this way about the roast. The joke about Gisele and Tom’s divorce obviously could open up a traumatic wound for the kids that they may not have been fully over in the first place.
After all, Brady and Bundchen have only been divorced for just over a year and a half. It can take children numerous years to get over their parents’ divorce.
Chances are, fans won’t see another roast of Tom Brady anytime soon, if we do ever again.
