The sorry New York Knicks (2-7) lost to the equally sorry Orlando Magic (3-6) Wednesday night, 97-95, in a rare battle involving two Eastern Conference teams that (probably) won’t make the playoffs. While we could point to all sorts of things that contributed to the loss, it’s more fun to boil it down to these two reasons: 1) they’re the Knicks, and 2) J.R. Smith (aka, Not New York’s $124 Million Man) shook off New York’s Actual $124 Million Dollar Man, Carmelo Anthony, and hoisted the game-winning shot. Well, potential game-winning shot, because J.R. missed. Badly. And all Carmelo could do was watch with despair while visions of playing with anyone else, on any other team, danced in his head.
Jalen Rose on JR Smith’s all glass brick to end NYK loss to ORL: “That jumper almost gave the Jerry West logo a concussion.”
