Twins closer Glen Perkins was happy for the Kansas City Royals after the Royals managed a 4-0 sweep of the Baltimore Orioles in the 2014 ALCS.

However, Perkins also didn’t miss out on an opportunity to humorously remind Kansas City that he is partially responsible for securing the Royals home field advantage during the World Series. The AL won the All-Star Game this year and Perkins was credited with the save. For that, Perkins jokingly asked for some recognition.

If the Royals postseason success takes them all the way to a championship, they may want to write a thank you letter to Perkins anyways. After all, home field advantage in the World Series is not to be taken lightly:

Since Commissioner Bud Selig persuaded owners to begin awarding home-field advantage for the World Series to the winning team in the All-Star Game, after the All-Star tie in Milwaukee in 2002, the Series has been won by the team with home-field advantage eight times in 11 years.
