After becoming the No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA Draft earlier this month, Caitlin Clark got her first taste of professional basketball over the weekend, and it sounds like it was quite a bit different than the college level.
The Indiana Fever began their preseason camp on Sunday, and after her first practice with the team, Caitlin Clark spoke to reporters and admitted that WNBA basketball is “a lot faster than college.” But it sounds like she likes it that way.
“It’s definitely different, but that’s what you expect when you start a new chapter in your life,” Clark said. “It’s fast, fast shot clock, but I think all of you know that’s how I like to play. So, I think it suits my game pretty well. It’s a fast pace, a lot faster than college, and you’ve to learn quicker because you’ve got to get your mind on Friday.”
Clark will get her first taste of live action on Friday when the Indiana Fever play their first preseason game against the Dallas Wings. It will certainly be interesting to see how she performs and how her game translates to the professional level after she dominated during her college years.
