Caitlin Clark Syndication: The Indianapolis Star

During Thursday night’s game between the Indiana Fever and the Seattle Storm, Indiana Fever rookie star Caitlin Clark and Seattle Storm guard Victoria Vivians got into a little bit of an altercation during the second quarter, resulting in a double technical foul call.

The incident started when Caitlin Clark hit a long three-pointer to cut the Storm’s lead to 34-28 with 5:53 remaining in the first half. And she made her way across the court to get back on defense, Clark had some words of trash talk for Vivians.

It’s not clear exactly what the altercation was about, but Clark certainly didn’t look happy and Vivians quickly chirped right back at her. The two guards traded some words back and forth until they were separated by the officials and each player was given a technical foul.

Ironically enough, this interaction came just a few days after Fever head coach Christie Sides called out Clark for getting technical fouls.

“We’re spending too much time talking to the officials,” Sides said. “We’ve got to leave that alone. We’ve got to just play our game and let them do their job and not put it in their hands… We shouldn’t get technicals. Let me get the technicals.”

Clark wasn’t able to avoid another technical on Thursday night.
