On Monday night, former Iowa Hawkeyes superstar Caitlin Clark was officially selected by the Indiana Fever as the No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA Draft. And it certainly didn’t take long for her to break a record after officially joining the league.
According to longtime sports business reporter Darren Rovell, it took just two hours after the WNBA Draft for Caitlin Clark to sell more jerseys than any other draft pick in any sport in history.
“JUST IN: Two hours after being picked, Caitlin Clark became Fanatics’ top selling draft pick in any draft night history. Surpassed Trevor Lawrence in 2021,” Rovell said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

The demand for the jerseys was so strong that Fanatics nearly completely sold out of their pre-made supply of Clark jerseys just a a couple of hours after the Draft.
“In one hour, Fanatics shows that it has sold out of Caitlin Clark’s Fever jersey in XS, M, L, XL and XXL,” Rovell said in a post.

Obviously, it’s pretty insane news that Clark broke such a massive record, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media as a result.
Pretty cool the impact she is having on women's sports. As a girl dad, I hope she becomes a role model for this generation of girls growing up. Anything but OnlyFans models, plz. https://t.co/oqSS1vWy8h

Basically every Fever game on national tv. She was on SNL. And 👇🏼 this. Seems people in the women’s game would embrace her and what she’s doing for the sport instead of trying to tear her down. What do I know tho 🤷🏼♂️ https://t.co/nCdmH2XPjM

Clearly, Clark’s popularity is carrying into the WNBA.
