Only a few weeks into her professional basketball career, it looks like Caitlin Clark is already trying to make some changes to her game as a result of a decision from her head coach.
In a recent press conference, Indiana Fever head coach Christie Sides said that she would like to see Caitlin Clark take more deep two-point shots instead of always looking for a three-point shot.
“I think she’s used to some shots that she’s taken in the last few years that are just those deep shots,” Sides said according to Marca.com. “There’s times she comes off ball screens where she’s open in that long 2 area, and we’ve got to get her comfortable taking that long 2.”
And when the team practiced this week, Chloe Peterson of the Indianapolis Star noted that Clark and the team were indeed emphasizing these long two-point shots.
But of a change to the shooting drills, emphasizing long 2-pointers first.

“[Bit] of a change to the shooting drills, emphasizing long 2-pointers first. Christie Sides has said she wants her team, specifically Caitlin Clark, to get more comfortable in the mid-range,” Peterson said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
Obviously, this is a pretty shocking change considering Clark is the most prolific three-point shooter of all-time, at least at the college level. Asking her to instead focus on deep two-point shots is a pretty surprising move. We’ll have to see how it works out for Clark and the Fever.
