It hasn’t been the best season for Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever as the team has lost eight of its first nine games to start the year. But despite the brutal results on the court, Clark is still grateful for the fans who support her and happy to be able to provide lasting memories for young fans.
During a press conference following Thursday afternoon’s loss to the Seattle Storm, Caitlin Clark acknowledged the impact that she and her team have had on fans despite the struggles on the court.
“At the end of the day, that’s why you play basketball. Sure, the wins are great but the way the game has changed over the course of my career, whether it’s college and now coming here, you look around at all these young girls. They’re coming to these games, and then even after the game we lose by however many points, but they’re still the happiest young girls in the world. They couldn’t be more thrilled that they’re here. They could care less how much we won by or how many points I scored or whatever it was,” Clark said according to Kyle Smedley.
And Clark is very grateful for the support.
“It’s just the experience and seeing us play, that’s just the coolest thing to me. I hope our fans continue to come back because this team is really fun to watch. I don’t think we’re really showing our full product yet, it’s just a work in progress. We’re young, we’re inexperienced, and I know we sound like a broken record saying that, but it’s true.”
