The rivalry between Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark has been well-documented since their days playing against each other in college. Now that they’re both in the WNBA, the hype has reached new levels. The two are living up to that hype and are in the midst of a tight race for the coveted Rookie of the Year award.
Angel Reese has already broken the WNBA rebound record and consecutive double-double record, and Caitlin Clark has already become the first rookie in league history to record a triple-double and is well on pace to break the single-season assist record.
The rivalry has extended off the court, with the media providing plenty of sound bites about the players as the season has unfolded. It appears Reese is well aware of the attention that comes with mentioning Clark and is attempting to cash in on it, instead of letting her on-court play do the talking.
Reese started a podcast, Unapologetically Angel, and the title of her first episode on YouTube raised a lot of eyebrows online.
The episode title mentions Caitlin Clark by name, likely in an attempt to pull over Clark’s fans. Social media users took note of this and weighed in online.
When I say Angel Reese needs and uses Caitlin CLARK for her fame and clout.
If CC doesn’t exist she’s a nobody that’s why she latched into CC’s name like a lost dog. https://t.co/L689puOTLY

Using Caitlin Clark’s name in the title and a picture of her in the thumbnail is lowkey kind of crazy. pic.twitter.com/snzyZMGGFB

Girl is only famous because of Clark.
Not her basketball skills.
Just hitched her wagon to Clark and has been dragged to notoriety. https://t.co/xtggfuDhM8

Oh make no mistake, she got this podcast knowing that she would need to talk about Caitlin to get the interest, it’s disappointing because it’s during the season and it’s just going to create even more of a distraction, but I think that’s what they want. https://t.co/QBAOVEFWNU

Reese announced a season-ending injury over the weekend, which obviously hurts her chances at earning the league’s Rookie of the Year award.
