The 2011 Preakness Stakes was one by a 12-1 underdog named Shackleford. Shackleford held off a late charge from the 2011 Kentucky Derby winner and 5/2 race favorite Animal Kingdom. Shackleford, who finished fourth in the Derby despite holding the lead for most of the race, posted a winning time of 1:56.21.
He paid $27.20 to win, $10.20 to place and $6.80 to show.
Animal Kingdom paid $4.20 and $3.60.
Astrology finished third and paid $8.
