2. UCLA Escapes Thanks to Controversial Goaltending Call
Basketball is often a game of inches and that was literally true in UCLA’s dramatic finish against SMU. After squandering a double digit lead to SMU, the Bruins found themselves down two. Bryce Alford put up a three point shot that had next to no chance of going in but SMU’s Yanick Moreira, likely going for the rebound, tipped the ball when it was still on the way down and with a fraction of the ball just over the hoop. The refs called goaltending.
