Former New York Giants wide receiver took the war of words between players and owners to a new level this week. Amani spoke Wednesday (and his words were repeated on an ESPN radio show Thursday morning) harshly of the way Goodell deals with NFL players:
“I think the way Mr. Goodell has handled this, the way he’s kind of using his power, is like the kind of a Gestapo-type situation, controlling the players, not letting the judicial system do its work,”
“It rubs a lot of players the wrong way, and that’s why you see a lot of players now lashing out at Mr. Goodell.”
This isn’t the first time a NFL player has been outspoken about the commissioner, but it definitely is a prime example of how this situation has spiraled out of control. Comparing someone to a Nazi, especially when dealing with a dispute over money, is out of bounds.
