Less than a month ago Google released an extension for its Chrome browser that allows you to block certain websites from appearing in your search results. This came after Google made the announcement they had modified their secret algorithms to penalize content farms and sites it determined to be manufacturing low-quality content. Starting today, if you are using a supported browser, you can block sites directly from the search results without the need of an extension. Google says, “…while we’re not currently using the domains people block as a signal in ranking, we’ll look at the data and see whether it would be useful as we continue to evaluate and improve our search results in the future.”
