After a devastating loss to Chile in the Copa America final, in which he missed his first-ever penalty kick in the shootout, Lionel Messi called it quits from international soccer. The loss served as a low-point for the Barcelona forward as it was Argentina’s third straight loss in a major final. In other words, he was quite salty.
However, with the World Cup qualifiers looming in September, Lionel Messi announced that he would be returning to Argentina’s national team. That was quick. It’s an unsurprising move, considering many of Messi’s Argentinian teammates spoke out believing Messi would be returning. If you weren’t already aware that Messi was one of the all-time greats, here are some astonishing highlights to prove it.
