Transgender Women Cyclists X/@i_heart__bikes

Two transgender women’s cyclists made headlines this week when they finished in first and second place at a major women’s cycling competition over the weekend.

According to the New York Post, transgender women Tessa Johnson and Evelyn Williamson competed in the women’s Single Speed category at the Illinois State Cyclocross Championships on Sunday. At the event, Johnson finished in first place while Williamson finished in second.

This is the second time the pair have claimed both first and second place at a major competition. Back in October, the two claimed first and second place at the Chicago CycloCross Cup.

According to the New York Post, Johnson previously competed in men’s categories during her time at Clemson University, but she was not able to win races until she began to race as a transgender female. Williamson, on the other hand, has been racing in the women’s category since at least 2017, where she has earned 18 different titles.

Over the past few months and years, the question of transgender women competing in women’s sports has become a hot topic throughout the country. And it’s safe to say that these performances from Johnson and Williamson will certainly add to that debate.
