Brittney Griner spent nearly 10 months in Russian custody after authorities found a small amount of prescription cannabis oil in her luggage. She was eventually freed and brought home thanks to a prisoner swap that sent convicted Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout back to Russia in return for her freedom, but Donald Trump clearly does not think that trade ever should have happened.

During an interview with YouTuber Logan Paul on his “Impaulsive” podcast earlier this month, Donald Trump spoke rather candidly about Brittney Griner and the trade that ultimately freed her, saying it was “not exactly the greatest trade” and that the Joe Biden administration “don’t know what they’re doing” as he also criticized Griner for failing to stand for the national anthem.

Trump called Bout a “great arms dealer” and complained that he was traded for “the basketball player who wouldn’t stand up for the national anthem. She thought that was a good time to tie her sneakers. And that was not exactly the greatest trade. But he gave 6 billion dollars on top of it. Six billion, billion with a B, and they don’t know what they’re doing.”

Needless to say, these comments led to a lot of reactions on social media.

Clearly, Trump would not have made that same trade.
