American gymnast Simone Biles cemented her legacy as arguably the greatest athlete in her sport at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Biles has already added two gold medals to her collection.
Singer Ricky Davalia took to Twitter, the social media platform currently marketed as X, to celebrate Biles’ achievements.
“Simone Biles being the GOAT, winning Gold medals and dominating gymnastics is her black job,” Davalia wrote.
To which Biles responded, “I love my black job.”
The ‘black job’ comments were in relation to a recent statement from Donald Trump, the 2024 Republican presidential nominee, who lamented that immigrants were taking “black jobs” and impacting the United States’ economy.
“They’re taking Black jobs now and it could be 18, it could be 19 and even 20 million people,” Trump said in his only debate with Joe Biden of the presidential cycle.
“They’re taking Black jobs, and they’re taking Hispanic jobs, and you haven’t seen it yet, but you’re going to see something that’s going to be the worst in our history.”
Neither Trump nor his campaign immediately responded to the barbs thrown by the singer and Olympic champion.
Biles received numerous messages of support from Democratic politicians celebrating her wit and achievements. Her post currently has over 600,000 likes and 73,000 reposts.
