The NHL’s annual Winter Classic ran into a huge problem during the second period: they ran out of food and beer.
Fans started to notice the lack of food and drink after the first period of the Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks New Year’s match at Notre Dame Stadium. No food and beer during an outside game didn’t sit well with folks.
For the record, #WinterClassic ran out of food during the first intermission and they don’t have much beer left now. I haven’t eaten in three days and am probably gonna perish before I leave this place.

To top things off, the few lines which did have food had incredibly long lines.
.@NHL y’all gotta do better at Winter Classic. Lines for food got you looking as unprepared as the @Marlins, 40 people deep for a pretzel? They don’t have trouble serving food here for football games.

Hosting a hockey game at a football stadium comes with numerous logistical problems to factor for. There are more fans and problems. But, stocking up the necessary amount of food and beer so you don’t run out seems like an easy problem to avoid.
Food and beer is a great way to keep warm. For more than 70,000 fans, they had to find an alternate way to deal with hunger and weather issues. Bummer.
