This was an interesting scene from Sunday’s Kings-Blue Jackets game in Los Angeles. After Columbus forward Scott Hartnell took a jab at Kings’ backup goaltender Martin Jones during a first period play along the boards, Jones’ teammate Jordan Nolan taunted Hartsy from the bench by poking him in the back with the butt-end of his stick.
Hartnell, obviously not pleased with the antics from the Nolan, turned around and took a swing at the L.A. bench with his own stick. Unfortunately for the Jackets, who were on the power play, the refs saw the retaliatory move and gave Hartnell a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct, negating their man-advantage.
As for Nolan, well…I’d say it was mission accomplished for him.
