Over the past few weeks, there has been a lot of talk about the practice of allowing media to access NFL locker rooms after games with many thinking it’s an invasion of player privacy. And it sounds like the league is preparing to make a significant move in that regard with one special player in mind: Travis Kelce.
According to a report from Radar Online, the NFL is moving to ban media from accessing the locker rooms.
“While reporters will still have access to players for interviews, the locker room will no longer be part of the equation,” a source told Radar Online.
“Instead, interviews will now be conducted in separate, designated areas, with each team determining the location.”
While the change is being publicized as a move for the benefit of all players, the source indicates that Kelce was the real reason why the league made this move.
“While the league is pretending this is to protect all players privates, everyone knows it is to protect Taylor Swift’s boyfriend,” the source said.
Obviously, Kelce has soared in popularity in recent months after he began dating pop sensation Taylor Swift last year.
The source suggested that the new change was to prevent potential onlookers from getting private glimpses or photos of Kelce with no clothes on.
“Swift’s new flame — and other NFL stars — can rest assured that their post-game downtime won’t be making headlines. But no one believes it’s just a coincidence that the new rules are being implemented now,” the source continued.
It’s worth noting that on a podcast earlier this month, Travis and his brother Jason Kelce downplayed concerns about having media in the locker rooms.
“I’m not impressing anybody, or doing anything, if you wanna look at it, go for it, be my guest,” Jason said. “It’s not gonna impress you.”
Needless to say, this is a pretty shocking change for the league to make for just one player. But he is clearly a very important player these days.
