This week, veteran defensive tackle Sheldon Rankin officially joined the Cincinnati Bengals, signing a two-year contract with the team on Monday. And it sounds like he already has some very high expectations for his new team.
During his introductory press conference on Monday morning, Sheldon Rankin made it clear that he sees the Cincinnati Bengals as a team that is “truly capable” of winning the Super Bowl and he thinks they’ve proven that in recent years.
“[It’s] a team that’s truly capable of going and winning it all,” Rankins said during his press conference according to Pro Football Talk. “A few years ago this team was in the Super Bowl and we’ve got all the makings to make that kind of run again. So, I’m looking forward to it.”
Sheldon on why he chose the Bengals:
1. Feels like home.
2. "We got all the makings to make that kind of run again." 😏 pic.twitter.com/pTjbtJVWTI— Cincinnati Bengals (@Bengals) March 18, 2024
The Bengals reached the Super Bowl following the 2021 season where they fell to the Los Angeles Rams and the team fell just shy of returning to the Super Bowl a year later when they lost to the eventual champion Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.
We’ll have to see whether or not the addition of Rankin can help push the team over the edge and win a Super Bowl.
