On Thursday, the New England Patriots and head coach Bill Belichick officially parted ways, ending a partnership between the organization and the legendary coach that spanned 24 years and saw the franchise win six Super Bowl championships. But even though the two sides are parting ways, it’s clear that Patriots owner Robert Kraft still has a lot of respect for Belichick.
During the press conference, Robert Kraft opened up about just what Bill Belichick meant to him and the organization, calling it a “very emotional day” for him, for the organization, and for Patriots fans saying that it “represents the end of an era, one that hopefully will always be celebrated in his region.”
Kraft had some high praise for Belichick as the teams announced their decision to part ways, calling him the “greatest coach of all time.” He also indicated that he expects Belichick to continue to coach in the league, admitting that it will be “difficult” to see Belichick on the sideline for another team.
“It’ll be difficult to see him in a cutoff hoodie on the sideline,” Kraft said. “But I will always wish him continued success, except when he’s playing our beloved Patriots.”
It’s truly the end of an era in New England.
