For over a decade, Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cameron Heyward has been one of the leaders and stars on the defensive side of the ball, emerging as a legitimate legend for the team with three first-team All-Pro nods and a recent Walter Peyton Man of the Year Award. But he’s now openly discussing the possibility of playing somewhere else.
Cameron Heyward is seeking a new deal from the Steelers that would keep him with the team next season, but it sounds like he’s at least open to the idea that he could be playing somewhere else next season, instead.
“I have talked to my wife, and we know the reality, and we have had those talks, and she said it could be fun to play somewhere else,” Heyward said this week according to Mark Kaboly of The Athletic. “If that is what is needed to be done, then so be it.”
As for where he might consider signing instead, Heyward threw out a division rival as a possibility: the Cleveland Browns.
“I still have family in Cleveland . . . my wife is from Cleveland. We will see. I am not trying to think about all that right now,” Heyward said.
We’ll have to see what happens, but it’s certainly interesting to hear the legendary Steelers player openly discuss the possibility of playing elsewhere.
