As Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes prepares to play in yet another Super Bowl before he even turns 30 years old, some are wondering if he’s already established himself as the greatest player of all time. But his father doesn’t seem to think so.
During a recent interview, Patrick Mahomes Sr. was asked whether or not he thinks that his son has established himself as the greatest NFL player of all time, but he doesn’t seem to think he’s gotten to that point just yet.
“That’s still to be determined,” Pat Mahomes Sr. said. “He still has a ways to go. I have mad respect for Tom Brady and I grew up as a Joe Montana fan. [Patrick] is on the right trajectory, but right now, I would still say those guys are better.”

This was a refreshingly honest take from the elder Mahomes, and it led to quite a lot of conversation on social media as a result.
This prolly why Mahomes so good I bet you his dad has never told him one ounce of praise lol https://t.co/47zZtwfPLO

“The best” and “On pace to be the best” are two different things. Mahomes isn’t the best but if he keeps it up he definitely will be https://t.co/hLhBUWt3Zx

This is based. Important for his son to stay grounded & hungry. Mahomes is already a first round HOF ballot candidate.

And he’s 100% right. An incredible 6 years so far but he needs more elite longevity to be in Brady’s company.

Someone actually using their brain. Great answer.

Mahomes will have a chance to add to his legacy this weekend when the Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII. He may not be the greatest player of all time just yet, but games like this are a chance to add to that argument.
