It sounds like a current New York Jets player got in trouble with the law this weekend leading to some time in jail.
According to a report from New York Jets reporter Rich Cimini of ESPN, Jets cornerback Tae Hayes was arrested and charged with marijuana possession on early Sunday morning in Alabama.
“Jets CB Tae Hayes, 26, was arrested early Sunday in Alabama and charged with marijuana possession, a second-degree misdemeanor, per Trinity PD records. An official at the Morgan County jail confirmed the arrest, but declined to give further information. He was booked at 3:46 am and released at 5:07 am on $300 bond. A Jets spokesman said the team is aware of the situation and will refrain from further comment, as it is a pending legal matter. Hayes played in one game for the #Jets last season. He has played in 14 games for several teams,” Cimini said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
After joining the league as an undrafted free agent back in 2019, Hayes has bounced around the NFL quite a bit, spending time with nine different NFL teams in addition to a stint with the Birmingham Stallions in the UFL.
