As the Joe Burrow continues to recover from the wrist injury that brought his 2023 season to a premature end, the Cincinnati Bengals’ star quarterback is making major strides.
According to All Bengals’ James Rapien, Burrow has resumed throwing the football and “remains on track to make a full recovery after undergoing wrist surgery in November.” While the LSU product isn’t fully recovered, throwing the football marks a significant forward step in his recovery and indicates that the 27-year-old should be able to participate in Cincinnati’s May minicamp, as has been the expectation.
Speaking to reporters at the NFL’s league meetings this week, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said that Burrow is “right on schedule” and that the team has been “encouraged” by the progress he has made.
“It’s positive,” Taylor said according to Brady Henderson of ESPN. “It’s right on schedule, and so we’re encouraged with everything we thought it was going to be and where he’s going to fit into our offseason.”
Coming off of two consecutive appearances in the AFC Championship Game, Cincinnati entered the 2023 campaign with lofty expectations after signing Burrow to a five-year, $275 million contract extension. The Bengals’ season, however, was derailed by multiple injuries, including Burrow’s, which caused him to miss seven games as Cincinnati finished the year with a 9-8 record and in last place of the AFC North.
