Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs is nearly 34, he’s in the middle of his 12th NFL season, and his team is currently 3-5 and on the outside of the playoff picture. Now, with his contract expiring at the end of the season, it appears Briggs is on his way out. And he doesn’t seem to be dreading that day.

This was his reply to a question about dealing with injuries this season during his Wednesday press conference:

I don’t know what to do with myself sometimes. Sometimes I sit in the meetings while coaches are talking and sometimes the words just phase out and I’m just staring at the screen. The only thing I can tell is the time. I can see the time and it’s like, ‘Damn, I still got 55 minutes left.’

Not the best look for the seven-time Pro Bowler. And probably not the best sign for the Bears, who need a whole lot of good things to happen to make the postseason.
