Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco had a dominant showing during the team’s win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, it sounds like he also suffered an injury that will sideline him for some time.
According to a report from Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco suffered a fractured fibula late in Sunday’s game and will miss “real time” as a reuslt.
“Chiefs star RB Isiah Pacheco, who left the stadium in a walking boot and crutches, fractured his fibula based on initial tests, sources say. More information coming to determine severity and associated damage, but Pacheco is set to miss real time,” Rapoport said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
Pacheco was the workhorse for the Chiefs against the Bengals throughout the game, carrying the ball 19 times for 90 yards in addition to five catches for 21 yards.
He suffered the injury on the team’s final offensive possession.
Needless to say, this is some absolutely horrible news for the Chiefs as Pacheco has been one of the most dominant running backs in the league the past two seasons.
It’s not clear exactly how long Pacheco is expected to be sidelined, but given the type of injury, it’s likely he’ll end up on the team’s injured reserve list.
The Chiefs’ offense was already depleted with Hollywood Brown on Injured Reserve to begin the season.
We’ll have to see how the Chiefs bounce back.
