A prominent figure in the Kansas City Chiefs fandom won’t be attending games in Arrowhead Stadium for a long time. ESPN has reported that on Thursday, superfan Xaviar Babudar, known more prominently by Chiefs fans as ChiefsAholic, was sentenced to 17.5 years in prison without parole and three years of supervised release.
In February ChiefsAholic entered a plea deal where he confessed to stealing over $800,000 in 11 robberies over seven states and then laundering the money through casinos. The deal included him pleading guilty to one count of bank robbery, one count of money laundering, and one count of transporting stolen property across state lines.
ChiefsAholic rose to prominence by dressing head to toe in a gray wolf suit for Chiefs games for years and was a fan favorite at Arrowhead stadium. He may have been able to afford to attend so many games due to the 16 months he spent robbing banks, beginning in March of 2022.
Chiefs fans will have to hope that the team will be able to rally and the energy around the stadium won’t be dampened by the absence of one of their communities most beloved members, as the Chiefs begin their 2-time title defense Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens.
