Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals met the Kansas City Chiefs in back-to-back AFC Championship Games in 2021 and 2022, splitting the two games. There wasn’t a chance for a third matchup last year as Burrow suffered a season-ending wrist injury and the Bengals missed the playoffs, but it sounds like Burrow is still targeting the Chiefs.
During his press conference on Tuesday, Joe Burrow made it clear that he thinks the Kansas City Chiefs are the team to beat in the NFL. He also made it clear that he and the Bengals are targeting them.
“Yeah, they were great,” Burrow said in his Tuesday press conference when asked about the Chiefs. “Their defense was one of the best in the league, they have great players on that side of the ball. And then, obviously, they’ve got Patrick and Travis and their O-line and those playmakers.
“They’re the gold standard right now. Everybody’s chasing them — obviously, they’re back-to-back world champs. Somebody’s got to knock them off, I’m hoping it’s us.”
The Bengals and the Chiefs have had some pretty strong battles over the years. We’ll have to see if the Bengals will be able to unseat the Chiefs once again this season.
