Last season, the New York Giants signed starting quarterback Daniel Jones to a long-term contract extension as they seemingly decided to move forward with him as their starter for the foreseeable future. But it sounds like the team is also meeting with a potential new quarterback, as well.

The Giants currently hold the No. 6 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. And as they decide what they plan to do with that pick, NFL insider Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report reports that the team has already met with Michigan Wolverines star quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

“Sources to @BleacherReport: Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy visited the #Giants last week, which included dinner with the front office and a tour of the facility,” Schultz said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Obviously, this is pretty significant news ahead of the draft, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media, as a result.

McCarthy is widely expected to be the fourth quarterback taken in the upcoming draft behind Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and Jayden Daniels. The Giants currently hold the No. 6 overall pick with the Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Chargers holding picks No. 5 and No. 4 respectively. While neither team is expected to draft a quarterback, there is a chance they could they could trade their pick to another team.

We’ll have to see whether or not the Giants target McCarthy and if they can get him.
