Donald Trump took a break from the government shut down to send congrats to his (apparent) favorite athlete and NFL team, Tom Brad, and the New England Patriots.
The President of the United States tweeted his support to Pats owner Bob Kraft, coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady following the team’s 37-31 OT win over the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship on Sunday.
Congratulations to Bob Kraft, Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and the entire New England Patriots team on a great game and season. Will be a fantastic Super Bowl!

Brady, previously seen supporting the POTUS by featuring a MAGA hat in his locker, seemingly fell out of favor with Trump in the last year or so. He didn’t end up going to the White House back in 2017 after winning the Super Bowl. Gisele Bundchen, Brady’s supermodel wife, also tweeted out support of an anti-Trump protest during the same time period.
Searching ‘Tom Brady’ mentions by Trump, this is the first time he tweeted about the QB since 2017.
What an amazing comeback and win by the Patriots. Tom Brady, Bob Kraft and Coach B are total winners. Wow!

It’s clear Trump is cheering for the Patriots, which isn’t at all shocking considering Kraft, Belichick and (maybe) Brady’s past support. It also can’t be dismissed Trump is just bandwagoning the Patriots during their most successful seasons. It would explain the lack of tweets directed towards the team when the Pats were upset by the Eagles. He didn’t mention them in his 2018 Super Bowl tweet.
Congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles on a great Super Bowl victory!
