The Indianapolis Colts made the shocking decision to bench young quarterback Anthony Richardson after only 10 starts heading into Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings. The move took a lot of people by surprise considering the team drafted Richardson in 2023 knowing it would take time for him to develop after he only started a relative handful of games in college.

Unfortunately for the Colts, veteran quarterback Joe Flacco struggled mightily in place of Richardson against the Vikings. Flacco finished the game 16-for-27 for 179 yards passing and an interception while failing to score a touchdown.

After the game head coach Shane Steichen was asked if Flacco would keep the job and if he still believed the veteran gave the team its best chance to win.

Right now, yes,” Steichen said per the team’s official YouTube channel.

Fans reacted to the shocking decision in the video’s comments section.

“Point blank, Flacco looks good when teams prep for AR. When teams can game plan for Flacco this is exactly what is gonna happen,” one fan responded.

“Defensive guys gotta be getting really fed up ! They’ve done nothing other than improve each week and give you chances to win but, your lack luster play calling and offensive execution have let us down once again! Shane take a long hard look in the mirror!” one fan added.

“We’ll get that cleaned up moving forward.” This is said each week and it isn’t cleaned up,” one fan added.

“How many times are you going to double down instead of admitting who ever made that call to bench AR was wrong,” one fan wanted to know.

“Thought this guy was the answer, but him, chris, and gus gotta go. This team is run by clowns,” one fan added.

“This dudes PLAY CALLING is to blame. I cant believe how many people just cannot admit it. Doesnt matter whos at QB, its same results… Bad plays, and play calling. Bottom Line. Im sure hes a good dude but this is Business and he’s bad for it,” one fan added.

The Colts are looking like an organization that doesn’t have any semblance of a plan right now.
