Things did not work out for veteran quarterback Bailey Zappe with the New England Patriots this offseason as he was cut from the roster. But it sounds like he is getting another chance with the reigning Super Bowl champions.

According to a report from NFL insider Jordan Schultz on social media, Bailey Zappe has now signed with the Kansas City Chiefs after the Patriots decided to part ways with him earlier this week.

“Sources: Former #Patriots QB Bailey Zappe is signing with the #Chiefs practice squad,” Schultz said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Zappe was the odd man out in the New England Patriots quarterback room as the team instead opted to keep veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett as well as rookies Drake Maye and Joe Milton, cutting him loose after two seasons with the team.

While Zappe may just be signing with the Chiefs to join the team’s practice squad, he is actually quite a veteran quarterback who will bring a lot of in-game experience to the team. Zappe has started eight games throughout his two seasons in the league and finished the season as the Patriots’ starter last year after Mac Jones was benched.
