Trailing by 11 points late in the third quarter, the Broncos faced a crucial 4th & 1 as they attempted to make a comeback against the Colts. Denver elected to hand it off to C.J. Anderson and, when a few Colts defenders broke through the line of scrimmage, it looked like he was dead in the water.
But then Anderson dug down and took advantage of some sloppy tackling, breaking free of a couple defenders and chugged his way to a new set of downs and – ultimately – three points that helped the Broncos pull within one score. It was a huge momentum shifter and a potential game-saving play for Denver.
