This week, the Kansas City Chiefs took a trip to Washington D.C. where the team visited the White House to celebrate their recent Super Bowl victory over the Philadelphia Eagles with United States President Joe Biden. But even though they were visiting the president, Andy Reid made it clear that this trip wasn’t political.
While his favorite part was undeniably the food they were served – he raved about it on a number of occasions – he also thoroughly enjoyed that the trip was not political, and everyone was just allowed to be “an American.”
“You know what was neat? I mentioned it to you down there that you put all the politics aside,” Reid said according to Fox News. “So, you’re not democratic, you’re not republican, you’re not independent. You’re just – you’re an American.”
“I thought that was the neatest part of the thing — that everybody was just enjoying the history and they laid out a spread for us of food that was great,” Reid said.
Of course, not everyone followed his lead. Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker took the opportunity to send a political message to Biden, wearing a tie that read “Vulnerari Praesidio,” which is Latin for “Protect the Vulnerable” – a popular Pro-Life message.
