Following Sunday’s loss to the New England Patriots, New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers was called out a little bit by one of his opponents who suggested that he is not able to move the way he used to be able to. And it sounds like Rodgers was able to confirm that is indeed the case.
Following Sunday’s game, New England Patriots defensive tackle Davon Godchaux called out Aaron Rodgers a little bit,
“Hall of Fame quarterback. Hate to see him go out that way,” Godchaux said of Rodgers according to ESPN. “He definitely don’t look the same.”
Godchaux went on to suggest that even he – at 330 pounds – was faster than Rodgers these days.
“[Shoot], I could run him down and catch him. He don’t look mobile at all,” Godchaux said.
And unfortunately, Rodgers confirmed those concerns, admitting that Godchaux was “probably right.”
“He’s probably right,” Rodgers said Tuesday according to Rich Cimini of ESPN. “Yeah, I was hurting, but I feel better today.”
However, Rodgers does not think that his lack of mobility is a permanent concern.
“I expect to be able to do a lot more this week,” Rodgers said. “I’ll be under center and, hopefully, back to my faster-than-Godchaux speed.”
It makes sense that Rodgers would be less mobile this season than in previous seasons. After all, he is 40 years old and coming off of a season-ending Achilles injury. He has also suffered a few leg injuries this season, as well.
Regardless of why Rodgers was slower than he had been in previous seasons, even he was able to admit it.
