Take a close look at the .GIF from Friday night’s game between the Twins and White Sox. You may notice a very odd situation happening as Chris Colabello’s home run entered the Twins’ bullpen area, and that would be what looks to be Jared Burton delivering a knockout punch to Brian Duensing. The sleuths over at the Pioneer Press were able to do some digging and found out that the pretend punch had been a prank a year in the making.
The original idea came from former Twins reliever Matt Maloney. The Twins relievers tried it once last year in Seattle in late August, then again in May at Boston.
Friday afternoon, however, Burton and Duensing nailed it. Maloney, back in Double-A in the Red Sox organization, would have been proud.
There are the sort of gems which make the Internet worth while.
