Earlier this month, former United States President Donald Trump was shot in the ear by a gunman during an assassination attempt at one of his political rallies. But the scary scene quickly turned into a moment for Trump to rally his supporters as he pumped his fist in the air yelling “fight! fight” with his ear still bloody from the gunshot. And it seems that one Major League Baseball player decided to pay homage to Trump by using the fist pump as his celebration.

During Sunday afternoon’s game between the Tampa Bay Rays and the New York Yankees, Rays shortstop Taylor Walls hit a double at the top of the fifth inning, and he used the opportunity to break out Trump’s fist pump as a celebration.

Upon reaching second base safely, Walls pumped his fist into the air and said “fight! fight!” just like Donald Trump did after the assassination attempt.

However, not everyone was a fan of the celebration.

The video quickly went viral on social media, but for all the wrong reasons as people absolutely blasted Walls for the celebration, pointing out that he hasn’t exactly been a dominant player recently, as his batting average this season is just .160.

Clearly, he struck a nerve with some people.
