If you haven’t figured it out by now, Blue Jays infielder Munenori Kawasaki is one of our favorite MLB personalities because he manages to deliver a golden interview every time the microphone is pointed in front of him.
The Japanese infielder delivered his latest gem this week when SportsNet’s Barry Davis asked him about receiving a hug from David Ortiz during a game against the Red Sox this week:
Kawasaki proceeded to explain the size difference between him and Ortiz (multiple times) before Davis got annoyed and moved on to his next question, which was about Munenori’s recent performance on the field. That’s when the infielder delivered this great quote:
“I love Blue Jays. I love Toronto. I love Michael Jordan.”
Kawasaki eventually got back to talking about Ortiz, saying he has a lot of respect for the Red Sox designated hitter because they share the same passion and joy for the game of baseball. That’s when Kawa decided to dub himself the “Little Papi” to Ortiz’s “Big Papi.”
Never a dull moment with this guy, that’s for sure.
