Last night — for the second consecutive game — the Seattle Mariners beat the living shit out of the Boston Red Sox. If you don’t pay attention to baseball in June — I usually don’t — the fact that the Red Sox have dropped their last two games to the Mariners by a combined 20-5 score might surprise you. Except the Mariners are currently seven games better than the Red Sox. In fact, the Mariners are better than a lot of teams right now.
If the season ended today, the Mariners would qualify for the postseason for the first time since 2001. Who would’ve thought?
