J.J. Putz was on the mound Saturday performing his reliever duties for the Diamondbacks in the ninth inning against the Mets and had a very odd moment. Check out the video of J.J. winding up as any normal pitcher would but midway through delivery he got spooked by a loud sound which came out of what seemed to be the Chase Field speakers. The result was one of the worst pitches in Diamondbacks history.
The umpires actually ruled the pitch a “no pitch” due to a couple of sound folks cueing up the beginning to a song a bit out of turn.
