When you watch this highlight video and see a moving mountain running the ball that is Tony “Big Tone” Picard. The gargantuan running back stands at 6-foot-4 and a hefty 400-pounds. The White Swan High School senior is deceptively quick and nearly impossible to bring down. He is such an immovable force that teams will dedicate five defenders just to tackle him. “Most teams will sacrifice five guys to stop him: four linemen and a middle linebacker. That leaves three guys on each side to stop the rest of our team,” White Swan coach Andrew Bush said. “Everything else opens up: our outside running, our play action, and our entire passing game. We average about 450 yards as a team offensively.”

The enormous Picard is Native American, part Umatilla-Nez Perce Indian and part Sioux. Besides being surprisingly agile at running back he has also started as nose tackle. Picard has ran for 576 yards and 8 touchdowns helping the White Swans to a 9-1 record entering the playoffs.

“It’s so much fun to have him go out [on the field] as a captain and see him shaking hands before the game,” Bush told Indian Country Today Media Network. “They’re just kind of staring, like ‘Oh my gosh, you’ve got to be kidding me!'”
