Donald Trump has always been quite a controversial figure in the political world, but that was only amplified by his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election, ultimately leading to 91 felony charges in four different jurisdictions across the country. As a result, not everyone necessarily wants their business or community attached to the Trump name – and apparently, that includes New York City.
This week, Donald Trump and his Trump Organization moved forward with plans to sell the lease to Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point which the organization has held until 2012. The lease has been purchased by Bally’s Corporation, a large casino and entertainment company, and one of the first moves the company plans to make is to remove Trump’s name and signage from the property.
And apparently, this move delighted New York City Comptroller Brad Lander, who expressed his pleasure that Trump’s name would no longer be attached to the New York property.
Following the announcement, Lander had a pretty brutal message for Trump, saying that he was “delighted that Trump’s name will no longer deface city parkland,” according to CNN.
It’s clear that New York and its city officials weren’t necessarily happy to have Trump’s name attached to the golf course. And now, it isn’t.
